Addressing Racial Problems in Your Child’s School

A Free Series for Parents and Families of Black Students

Join University of Southern California Rossier School of Education Professors Shaun Harper and Jessica DeCuir-Gunby for this live series focused on actions parents and families can take in response to pervasive racial problems in K-12 schools across America. All sessions are open to the public at no cost.

The nine live sessions will be hosted on Zoom. Half of each hour will be devoted to framing the issue and offering advice; the remaining time will be spent engaging the audience in live Q&A with Drs. DeCuir-Gunby and Harper. No-cost registration is required for each session.

Primarily, this series aims to provide an affirming and useful space for parents and families of Black students. The presenters will equip them with language, tools, and strategies to disrupt racism and racial inequities in their children’s schools. Forming a new national support network for Black families is another goal of the series.
